It was a mix of emotion, memories and gratitude as staffers of Chimpanzee Sanctuary & Wildlife Conservation Trust bid farewell to the long serving Executive Director, Lilly Ajarova. Lilly has been Head of the Chimpanzee Sanctuary at Ngamba Island which is home to about 50 chimpanzees, for the last fourteen years.
In January of this year, she was appointed to head Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) replacing Stephen Asiimwe.
On Friday, members of staff of the Chimpanzee Sanctuary & Wildlife
Conservation Trust held a party to bid Lilly farewell as she crosses over to UTB. The party was also attended by other stakeholders in the tourism industry as well as the press.
The farewell party took place at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) in Entebbe. It was a great evening of sharing stories and celebrating Lilly’s contribution to the organization. She continues to be Mama Chimp to all who have worked with her the last 14 years.
